Cairns Aquarium – a magical place!

Your journey starts in the freshwater streams and rivers where you’ll venture through waterfalls, past ancient volcanic crater lakes, and river systems, and into flooded billabongs, without getting wet! Along the way, you’ll encounter curious creatures like the pig-nosed turtle, freshwater moray eels, catfish, stonefish, crayfish, and stingrays.

Drift through the calm waters of the Wet Tropics Rainforest and meet the swamp-dwelling animals and wildlife hidden amongst the rainforest floor, including Johnston’s crocodile, mangrove monitor, white lip tree frogs, turtles, tarantula, and giant burrowing cockroaches!

Heading toward the coast through mangrove trees, you might be lucky to see natural nurseries filled with baby fish. You’ll also find estuarine crocodiles, giant mud crabs, and quaint upside-down jellyfish.

Your next destination, The Great Barrier Reef.
