Daydream Island shares resort space with verdant rainforest and is surrounded by crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches. It boasts a warm subtropical climate making it the perfect beach holiday destination. 

The centrepiece of the island resort is the Living Reef, a unique free-form coral lagoon wrapping 200m around the central building. It features an underwater observatory and interactive touch pools, and is home to over 100 species of marine fish, coral and invertebrates such as starfish, sea cucumbers, and crabs. Where is Daydream Island and how do I get there?

Daydream Island sits in the heart of the beautiful Whitsunday Islands, 1100km north of Brisbane. Flights from Australia’s main capital centres can bring you as far as Hamilton Island and Proserpine. From Hamilton Island, it’s a short 30-minute ferry ride to Daydream. From Proserpine, you must transfer to Airlie Beach before boarding a slightly longer 40-minute ferry to the island.

When is the best time to visit Daydream Island?

The Whitsundays’ tropical climate is characterised by wet and dry seasons. The dry season generally offers pleasant temperatures, lower humidity, and less rain from April to November. This is often considered the best time to visit Daydream Island for outdoor activities like swimming, snorkelling, and exploring the island's natural wonders. 

Rainfall, temperatures, and humidity are at their highest from December to February; this is also peak season, so it might be worth skipping if you want to avoid the crowds. 

The winter months from July through September are a popular time to visit as the waters are entirely stinger-free and the weather is spectacular, with balmy days around 24 °C.

Can you swim on Daydream Island?

Yes, you can swim on Daydream Island. The island is surrounded by beautiful beaches and offers various swimming options for visitors. The resort on Daydream Island has a large outdoor swimming pool where guests can enjoy a refreshing swim and relax by the water. Additionally, there are several picturesque beaches nearby, such as Mermaids Beach and Lovers Cove, where visitors can swim in the crystal-clear waters and soak up the sun. Just watch out for Irukandji Jellyfish that can be present in the warmer months.
