Indian Pacific Rail Journey

Experience the romance of rail

The Indian Pacific is one of Australia’s iconic rail journeys, a comfortable, stylish, all-inclusive way to travel this great country and experience some of its interior landscape and natural wonders. Named for the two oceans it travels between on its transcontinental crossing, the Indian Pacific runs between Sydney, Adelaide, and Perth, covering a distance of 4352 kilometres over three nights and four days.

This legendary train journey gives guests the opportunity to follow the epic trail carved out by bush pioneers, gold rush prospectors, and historic adventurers. Travellers can choose to journey from Sydney to Perth or vice versa. Although the train runs on the same line, each direction offers quite different excursions from outback towns to wineries, breathtaking mountains to massive mining operations.
